Assessing Road Users: Practice Questions

Good drivers try to predict what other people on the road will do. The handbook says a quick, correct assessment depends on two factors: age and attention. Children are easily distracted and may not judge risk properly, so a ball rolling into the road means a child may follow, and you should slow down and be ready to stop. Elderly road users may have limited movement, hearing or vision, so be patient when they cross slowly. If you are unsure whether a pedestrian has seen you, try to make eye contact.
